Working on the Larapinta

Here is a photo caught as I was taking the roast beef out of the camp oven after cooking on the fire; the Larapinta Trail. I was leading the walking tour in this photo but I also cook and organise everything else.
God, I am so filthy. I take care to use hand sanitizer before handling food (mainly so paxs can see me taking food precautions and feel reassured) but it really just means spreading the dirt into a more even layer as there is such limited water to wash by.
We carried all the water in and we used a chemical toilet (this actually means a toilet reservoir with disinfectant added, that’s all). I told all the women (this was a women’s only group) that number ones went in the bushes and they could take care of the paperwork on the fire; number twos only in the toilet because I had to empty it if it got full and the backup would be abluting into plastic bags and saving them :-). I t is a National Park and we have a permit to camp there on the grounds we leave no trace.

About quirkycharm

I like to think that I have a certain quirky charm but I am probably being optimistic. Acquired taste, perhaps, which many don't acquire. This is about my fifth blog out there. My hosting companies kept going out of business or my IT exhusband kept hacking into them and I would move again. I don't do twitter, I barely do facebook, I don't try and 'monetize' my blog. I love my husband, my grown children and my job and this particular incarnation of oversharing my life comes at a time when I am the most content that I have ever been. I write always, sporadically during the good stuff and exhaustingly during the bad.
